FAQ
What should routine maintenance of airport ground support equipment cover?
Daily inspections typically include tires, brakes, steering, coupling devices, and relevant safety features. Belt loaders also require checks of the conveyor belt and lifting mechanism. For diesel and electric equipment, maintain the engine or the battery and charging systems as specified in the manual. Follow the maintenance procedures and intervals prescribed for the specific model.
What should I do if a tow tractor will not start or power on?
Follow the operator’s manual to check the main power switch, emergency stop switch, and required starting conditions, and review the instrument panel indications. For diesel models, check the fuel level and starting battery condition. For electric models, check the traction battery charge level. If the tractor still will not start, record any fault codes and unusual symptoms, and contact our after-sales team for further assistance.
Why will a tow tractor not move after it is powered on?
Possible causes include an engaged parking brake, incorrect gear selection, unmet safety interlock conditions, or an active system protection function. Check the conditions required for travel and any instrument panel messages according to the operator’s manual. Do not jumper wiring or bypass safety devices to force the tractor to move.
What should I do if the belt loader’s conveyor belt does not run?
Confirm that all conditions required for conveyor operation are met, and check the emergency stop status, conveyor control settings, and any alarms. If baggage is jammed, stop the equipment and isolate its energy sources according to the manual before having qualified personnel clear the obstruction. Do not reach into the conveyor while the belt is running or attempt to force a restart.
What should I do if a trailer veers off course, vibrates, or makes unusual noises while being towed?
Stop towing and check for uneven load distribution or inadequately secured cargo. Visually inspect the tires, wheels, and towing connections for obvious abnormalities. If you find loose coupling components, structural deformation, or wheel defects, take the trailer out of service and arrange an inspection and repairs. Reducing speed alone is not an acceptable reason to continue operating.
Can equipment remain in service if braking or steering problems occur?
Stop operations immediately, and secure and isolate the equipment in accordance with site safety procedures. Braking or steering faults directly affect vehicle control; do not continue towing or operating near aircraft. Have qualified maintenance personnel inspect the equipment, and return it to service only after the fault has been rectified and proper operation verified.
